Chairman of the National Security Committee Yermek Sagimbayev reported to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev on the work done by the Committee since the beginning of the year and future tasks, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.
He reported that the Committee has prevented 4 terrorist attacks and attempts by 824 foreign nationals involved in extremist activities to enter the country and convicted 84 people of terrorist and extremist activities. 6 citizens of Kazakhstan suspected of terrorism were extradited from Syria and Turkey.
Jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Committee has neutralised 19 criminal groups and seized over 500 weapons, drugs, arms and chemicals.
33 drug labs were dismantled, and over 3 tonnes of drugs were destroyed. With the aim of ensuring economic security, the Committee has prevented damages worth 1.6 trillion tenge, and returned 315 billion tenge to the state budget.
The Committee has prevented attempts to illegally import arms and drugs and detained 55,000 offenders. It has detected over 552 million cyberattacks and 6,000 DDoS attacks. The President gave further instructions to enhance the activities of security agencies.
