President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov presented Kyrgyzstan’s achievements in economic development and environmental protection at a meeting with President of the Assembly and Chair of the Global Green Growth Institute Ban Ki-moon. He underscored Kyrgyzstan’s support for international efforts to combat climate change, as well as its readiness to cooperate with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Japarov reminded that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres compared Kyrgyzstan to a «racing horse» instead of the former «sleeping beauty».
The President spoke about new approaches to attracting investors and new laws aimed at improving the business climate.
Ban Ki-moon emphasised that large funds and developed countries should support developing countries in their efforts to adapt to climate change. He said he is ready to facilitate the implementation of Kyrgyzstan’s initiatives for sustainable development of mountain regions and accepted an invitation to visit the country.
