On December 2, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met in Ashgabat with newly appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshanbek Alimov, who presented copies of his credentials. The diplomats focused on humanitarian partnerships, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The interlocutors emphasised that the two peoples are united by spiritual and cultural values, and this vector is a key factor favouring the accelerated development of interstate relations.
Meredov and Alimov emphasised that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan consistently promote trade and economic cooperation and have a significant potential for business contacts. The parties noted effective direct contacts between the regions of the two countries.
The diplomats noted that the countries have similar views on key issues of the regional and global agenda and support each other’s proposals put forward within the UN and other international organisations.
