Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan reports to President

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, who reported on the work done by the Ministry in 2024 and announced plans for 2025, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The key areas include culture, information, interethnic relations, youth policy, creative industries and archival affairs. Kazakh art was presented at the prestigious international venues, such as the Venice Biennale and the Guimet Museum, and the publishing houses participated in the Frankfurt Book Fair.

The major projects include the launch of the Qazaq Culture platform in 8 languages and the ceremonies of the World Nomad Games in Astana. The President was informed about the adopted law on the media, which raises the status of journalists, and amendments on direct financing of the Kazakhfilm film studio. Support for volunteering was discussed: the number of volunteers has grown to 240,000, dozens of projects are underway, and several volunteers work in UN agencies.

The Ministry has developed measures to maximise the growth of the creative industries: it has set up a Fund, introduced a preferential tax regime and open 10 hubs.

Tokayev instructed that special attention be given to the preparations for the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the 80th anniversary of Victory and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
