President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in the narrow-format meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council. According to the press office of Akorda, the leaders of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan and the CSTO Secretary General attended the meeting.
The participants discussed key international and regional security issues and the results of Kazakhstan’s Chairship in the Organisation in 2024. The President noted the important role of the CSTO in maintaining peace and stability in Eurasia.
«It is important to emphasise that the CSTO is not just military partnerships, it is a unique mechanism that unites our efforts and resources to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.
Kazakhstan is completing the tasks planned within its CSTO Chairship, including the preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory. The participants of the meeting agreed on plans for the next period of the CSTO’s activities.
