The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) that brought together representatives of 80 countries has started in the capital of Azerbaijan. President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon represents Tajikistan at this major international forum. He leads the national delegation at the World Leaders Climate Action Summit, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.
COP29 is one of the most authoritative and major platforms for discussing the global politics of climate change. the Conference features a series of discussions aimed at finding effective solutions to mitigate climate change and its impacts and speed up the energy transition.
A key focus of this year’s session is on finance — the organisers are positioning COP29 as the «Finance COP». Setting a new global climate finance goal to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change is the key issue on the agenda. This decision is to determine the needs and mechanisms of financial support for global climate action.
