President of Kyrgyzstan approves changes to State Anthem

He believes that the current State Anthem, being written immediately after Kyrgyzstan had gained independence, does not reflect the current status of the country.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov put forward the initiative to amend the State Anthem. The President considers it timely to revise one of the main symbols of the statehood, Kabar reports.

In his speech, Japarov noted that the current wording of the State Anthem, written over three decades ago, was influenced by an emotional upsurge associated with independence. Today, when Kyrgyzstan has taken a worthy place in the world community as an independent state, the wording of the main patriotic song of the country needs to be amended.

The President emphasised the importance of reflecting the five-millennia-old history of the Kyrgyz people in the new anthem. He expressed belief that the amended anthem should serve as a source of patriotic enthusiasm for the younger generation. Japarov assured that the current anthem would remain an important element of the national heritage.

The President mentioned the recent change in the State Flag, focusing on the improved design of the solar symbol that is now more expressive and easier to perceive.
