On October 18, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the proposal on the improvement of the rail sector in line with the international requirements at the government meeting, Turkmenistan: Golden Age eNewspaper reported.
The proposal was submitted to the President for consideration by Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakyev. He reported on the measures taken to modernise the rail sector, improve the management system, strengthen the material and technical base and train railway specialists.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised that the modernisation, professional training and electrification of Turkmenistan’s rail sector are the state policy priorities. The President added that international practices need to be adopted in this sector.
