President of Kyrgyzstan calls on Kyrgyz citizens not to buy driving licenses

The President asked a tough question to those who sell driving licenses in the country.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov urged citizens of the Republic not to buy driving licenses illegally. He made this statement after the recent mass detentions of the employees of the Unaa state vehicle registration institution, including Director Rustam Dzhokoyev, suspected of selling driving licenses, Sputnik reports.

The President expressed concern that those who buy driving licenses significantly jeopardise public safety. Japarov noted that license sellers do not understand that inexperienced drivers with illegal driving licenses can cause tragedies on the road. He called on violators to think about the future of their children.

The President informed that the selling price for illegal driving licenses in Unaa varied from 40,000 to 80,000 soms. It is assumed that about 10% of driving licenses were received illegally.

Japarov emphasised that the problem of illegal driving licenses has existed for 30 years, and as a result, a large number of accidents occur every year. Last year, 7,000 traffic accidents, resulting in 783 deaths, were registered in the country.

Calling on citizens, in particular young people, to avoid buying driving licenses, the President noted that learning traffic rules is not that difficult.
