Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov took part in the capsule-laying ceremony marking the start of development of Kyrgyzstan’s largest titanomagnetite field — Kyzyl-Ompol in Issyk-Kul Region. This event was an important step to boost Kyrgyzstan’s mining industry, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Japarov emphasised that the field development project will not only bring financial benefits, but also be implemented under strict state control. He said the sources of financing for this significant project will be determined soon.
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers emphasised that the development of the Kyzyl-Ompol field is an event of crucial importance for the country. The field contains millions of tonnes of titanomagnetite, and its exploitation will create new jobs, boost exports and have a significant impact on Kyrgyzstan’s economic growth.
Zhaparov said environmental safety should remain the focus. The field development project will comply with international environmental safety standards. Safe technologies, which will be used to extract titanomagnetite, allow extracting such associated minerals as uranium and thorium in compliance with international safety standards.
