On September 12, Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan Lieutenant General Pulat Bobojonov met with a Turkish delegation headed by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya in Tashkent. The agenda covered security cooperation and the implementation of bilateral agreements reached during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Turkey in June this year, the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
The parties noted significantly expanded collaboration between the interior ministries of the two countries in combating transnational crime. Turkey and Uzbekistan exchange information and experience on a regular basis, conduct bilateral visits and organise events to improve employee qualifications.
The key areas of interaction include the fight against cybercrime. The participants of the meeting emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanging experiences in this sphere.
They discussed the approaches to combating terrorism and extremism, human trafficking, illegal drug trafficking and other transnational crimes. Particular attention was paid to conducting cybercrime and digital forensics training courses for internal affairs officers. The potential for cooperation between the recently established Research Institute of Criminology under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and the research centres of the Ministry of Interior and the Gendarmerie General Command of Turkey was explored.
The Turkish partners were informed about safety and security measures at tourist sites in Tashkent and Samarkand region.
