On August 26, speaking at a briefing at the Central Communications Service, Director of the department of maternal and child health of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan Magripa Yembergenova said the main reason for the rise in children’s injuries is the lack of attention from their parents, Zakon.kz reported.
Yembergenova noted that, according to WHO and UNICEF, 80% of accidents involving children happen due to the fault of their parents: children are left unattended at home, in cars, near water bodies and in other dangerous places and seat belts or child seats are not fitted.
“Emergency situation specialists associate a significant rise in children’s injuries and the lack of attention from parents with continuous “sitting” in gadgets,” Magripa Yembergenova said.
The representative of the Ministry of Health specified that when immersed in social networks, parents lose control of their children and vigilance.
The survey involving 3,000 parents showed that 7% of children had received the injuries that required medical care in the past 12 months.
