President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Karakalpak Branch of the Republican Emergency Medical Services Research Centre, which is the first healthcare facility built «from scratch» in the region, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
Previously, the Centre occupied an old building with the wards accommodating 4-5 patients each. The new building of the Karakalpak branch was put into operation in Nukus. The President of Uzbekistan inspected the new conditions created for patients and medical staff.
Now, the Centre uses modern equipment to provide medical services to patients with cardiovascular diseases. Doctors have multispiral computed tomography, ultrasound and laboratory equipment, enabling rapid and early disease diagnostics, at their disposal. Telemedicine helps treat patients in remote regions.
Henceforth, several complex surgeries, which used to be performed only in Tashkent, will be performed successfully in Karakalpakstan. For example, open heart surgeries were performed on 5 patients with the help of a device of artificial blood circulation for the first time in the history of the region.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the new building and equipment are only a piece of work. It is important now to introduce modern management tools at the Centre, attract qualified doctors from advanced countries in medicine and improve the qualifications of our specialists abroad. In general, the Centre should function as an academy of medical science and practice.
