Like many other countries, Tajikistan has begun to develop special recommendations to prevent the spread of monkeypox. This statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Service of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic Navruz Jafarov, Sputnik reports.
Jafarov clarified that one of the key tasks is to strengthen border measures related to the disease, paying particular attention to visual examination.
He said the people with monkeypox are quickly detected and usually avoid travelling.
He emphasised that the risk that monkeypox would spread widely in Tajikistan is very low. However, awareness-raising events and actions are being held among the population. Monkeypox is transmitted only through direct contact, unlike many other infectious diseases, and this virus does not spread through the air, Jafarov said.
