Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs, Traditions, Holidays and Ceremonies of Tajikistan Sulaymon Davlatzoda reported on active cooperation between the Republic and Russia in countering illegal religious education among migrant workers. According to him, this education has secretly leaked out of Tajikistan into Russia together with migrant workers, Sputnik reports.
Davlatzoda expressed concern about extremist groups that use the Internet for their activities so that many citizens of the Republic fall under these groups’ influence without realising it.
He underscored the problem of children’s religious clubs, often open and free for all to attend. However, any free services have an ulterior purpose, the Chairman of the Committee said.
Davlatzoda also admitted that Tajik citizens are involved in illegal religious education in Turkey as well, but most organisations of this kind emerge more often in Russia. Tajikistan is actively cooperating with the Russian Council of Ulema and other organisations of this kind.
