Novikov urges Ministry of Health to prepare for deteriorated epidemic situation

As is reported, the number of new coronavirus infections in the country has slowed down in recent days.

Speaking at the meeting of the National Task Force for combating the coronavirus epidemic, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artyom Novikov said the number of new confirmed coronavirus infections in the country had slowed down in recent days. 41 new coronavirus cases were recorded on February 15, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged not to slacken vigilance and prepare for the potential deterioration in the epidemic situation in Kyrgyzstan as effectively as possible.

Novikov highlighted the need to prepare health institutions for a potential third wave of coronavirus infections, deploy  a sufficient number of main and reserve hospital beds, train  and retrain health professionals in prevention and treatment of coronavirus disease and ensure an adequate supply of medicines and medical products.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development Madamin Karataev reported that the situation was under control. The hospitals throughout the country have 1,985 beds (excluding reserve hospital beds), of which 459 are currently occupied.
