Turkmenistan and EU hold 19th Joint Committee Meeting

During the online negotiations the parties discussed issues on developing trade and economic cooperation.

On June 25, Turkmenistan and the European Union held the 19th Joint Committee Meeting through videoconference at the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan. In the frame of the negotiations the parties touched upon further partnership in the trade and economic sphere, as reported by the press service of the Turkmen MFA.

Representatives of various government departments of Turkmenistan took part in the event. The European Union was represented by the staff of the European External Relations Service, headed by Luke Devin, Deputy Director of the Office for Europe and Central Asia.

The parties underlined the high level of ties between the EU and Turkmenistan. Special attention was paid to developing partnerships in the private sector. The prospects of interaction in the energy and transport and communications sector were also discussed.Emphasis was placed on strengthening ties in the field of agriculture and the humanitarian sphere.

Turkmen officials marked the importance of building relationships in healthcare and education. Attention was paid to expanding joint activities on combating the pandemic and protecting the economy from its influence.

It must be added that the 18th meeting of the relevant joint committee was held on February 26, 2019 in Brussels. During the official event, the parties discussed strengthening trade and economic cooperation.
