President of Tajikistan highlights importance of peace and stability in CSTO Member States

The President focused on strengthening border security and border management at the Collective Security Council meeting in Astana.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon addressed the CSTO Summit in Astana, at which the most important topics of discussion were regional security and the future CSTO chairship. The President of the Republic emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the CSTO Member States, as well as the relevance of all issues on the agenda and the importance of the decisions taken in the context of the current international situation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

The key decision of the Summit was the approval of the CSTO Targeted Programme on Strengthening the Tajik-Afghan Border. The participants signed the Declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

Kyrgyzstan will take over the CSTO chairship on January 1, 2025. Bishkek will host the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in the fourth quarter of 2025. Tajikistan emphasised its readiness for close cooperation with the future CSTO Chair.
