Culture ministers of Kazakhstan and France discuss strengthening cultural ties

Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva noted that a key priority for the state cultural policy is to promote Kazakh historical and cultural heritage.

A meeting between Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva and her French counterpart Rachida Dati took place in Paris, the press office of the Ministry reported.

The talks, which took place on the eve of a state visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to France, focused on strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries. The ministers noted the positive dynamics in cultural relations, emphasising the role of mutual high-level visits in developing new initiatives.

«A priority of the state cultural policy is to promote and integrate Kazakh historical and cultural heritage into the global humanitarian landscape,» Aida Balayeva noted.

Following the meeting, several documents were signed, including the Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in Museum Activity and Cultural Heritage and the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Museum of Kazakhstan and the Guimet Museum in Paris.

The parties discussed the opportunities for research internships of Kazakh specialists in France and the exchange of experience in museum activity. Cooperation in the art industry, particularly in ethnic fashion, was discussed.
