Tajikistan and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation in uranium mining

The Memorandum was signed during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan.

Tajik Rare Metals and Kazatomprom signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in mining and processing of uranium, rare and rare earth metals. The signing ceremony took place during the official visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to Tajikistan, the press office of Kazatomprom reported.

The Memorandum envisages promoting strategic cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector. The companies will implement joint projects and engage in exploration, mining and processing of uranium and rare earth metals.

The parties agreed to conduct scientific research and apply modern technologies in production. They will cooperate in employee training and exchange experiences.

Chairman of the Board of NAC Kazatomprom JSC Meirzhan Yusupov noted that it is too early to talk about specific results, but the parties are seeking to implement promising joint uranium, rare and rare earth metals projects. These projects can bring significant benefits to both Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
