Pavel Durov allocates $356,000 for education of rural children in Kazakhstan

The founder of the social networking site VK and the app Telegram Messenger Durov selected grant applicants and corresponded with the founder of the prestigious IQanat school.

The founder of the social networking site VK and the app Telegram Messenger Pavel Durov allocated $356,000 in 12 grants to educate children from rural areas of Kazakhstan at the prestigious IQanat school. According to Kursiv, Durov personally selected grant applicants and corresponded with the founder of the school and Chairman of the Board of Directors of BI Group Aidyn Rakhimbayev.

Durov visited the school during his trip to Kazakhstan and learned in detail about the educational process and the criteria for selecting students. After Durov was informed about the significant progress in studies of schoolchildren from the remote regions, he decided to support those who had almost reached a grant.  Though he initially planned to help several children, Durov increased the number of grants to 12.

“I was shocked when he personally took on the task of sorting out applicants, asking for their scores, subjects and requesting more additional information,” Aidyn Rakhimbayev said.

As reported, it was not by chance that Durov visited the school: as a graduate of a school for gifted children, he showed a special interest in this kind of institutions, which ultimately led to an important decision to support rural children in Kazakhstan.
