The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan posted for public discussion a draft law on electricity tariff increases for non-household customers, i.e. legal entities and entrepreneurs, Sputnik reports.
According to the authors of the draft law, the electricity tariff will rise to 3.76 soms per kilowatt-hour (excluding taxes).
Previously, these categories of customers paid at the ‘budget’ rate of 2.87 soms per kilowatt-hour. However, the changes will not affect entrepreneurs operating in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors.
The main reason for electricity tariff increase is the Government’s plan to import 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours in 2024. According to calculations, the revenues of the electricity companies should total 32.5 billion soms and the expenses — 40.6 billion. A deficit in financing the power sector is expected to total 8.1 billion soms
