China helps Uzbekistan implement green energy project

The project cost at the initial stage is $200 million, and the total project value is $1.8 billion.

Baibuting Group Co. Ltd from China will implement a large-scale green energy project worth $1.8 billion in Akhangaran district of Uzbekistan, the press office of the Tashkent Region Administration reported.

The parties signed an agreement on cooperation in green energy in the Chinese city of Wuhan. A delegation, led by Tashkent Region Khokim Zoir Mirzaev, is currently visiting the city.

The initial investment will be $200 million.

The project envisages building wind, solar and hydropower plants with a total production capacity of 2 GW. A land plot with an area of 2,600 hectares will be allocated for the project in Akhangaran district.

Chair of Baibuting Group Co. Ltd Mao Yonghong plans to involve about a dozen Chinese companies in the project.

Currently, 722 enterprises with Chinese capital are operating in Tashkent Region.
