President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a birthday message to Hero of Turkmenistan, test cosmonaut instructor, commander of the cosmonaut corps of the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities Oleg Kononenko, Turkmenistan: Golden Age eNewspaper reports.
The President wished Oleg Kononenko, who turns 60 on June 21, good health, happiness, family well-being and every success in his hard work.
«Your work is honourable and responsible. Its results bring a significant contribution to global technology development and a better life of all mankind,» the President said in his message.
Oleg Kononenko is a native of Turkmenistan; he was born and graduated from secondary school in Turkmenabat. He holds the record for the longest single stay in space — over 1,000 days.
The Order of Turkmenistan «Star of the President» was awarded to the cosmonaut, and the title of Hero of Turkmenistan was conferred on him in 2019. Oleg Kononenko is celebrating his jubilee on board the International Space Station.
