Uzbekistan and Singapore set to implement projects worth $3.8 billion

The two countries are planning to cooperate in the chemical, education, transport and urban planning sectors.

On May 24, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Singapore Halimah Yacob held talks at the Kuksaroy Residence in Uzbekistan. The interlocutors highly evaluated the level of mutually beneficial cooperation, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The two leaders noted with satisfaction that Uzbekistan-Singapore partnerships has reached a new level. In total, $3.8 billion have been earmarked for joint projects. These include the initiatives in the chemical, transport, educational and urban planning sectors.

This is the first official visit of President Halimah Yacob since Uzbekistan and Singapore established diplomatic relations 25 years ago. The interlocutors positively evaluated the implementation of the agreements reached earlier.

The most recent joint investment projects include a petrochemical plant in the city of Gazli. The two countries are implementing numerous projects aimed at improving transport infrastructure, in particular railway and air infrastructures. Educational and research programmes are among the priorities of cooperation between the two countries.
