Kyrgyzstan views cooperation with EU as priority, Akylbek Zhaparov says

The documents on green energy cooperation were signed during the meeting.

On May 20, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the President’s Administration of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov made a working trip to Almaty, where he met with Executive Vice President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis, the press office of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic reported by CentralAsia.news.

The parties discussed key aspects of EU-Kyrgyzstan cooperation during the meeting in Kazakhstan. Zhaparov stressed that the Kyrgyz Republic views cooperation with the European Union as a priority, noting that the European Union is an important investor and trade and economic partner.

Valdis Dombrovskis noted the high indicators of trade turnover between the parties, which have grown in recent years. The EU representative stated that the European Union is ready to continue cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in various fields.

Following the talks, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan and the European Union signed a joint document under the Green Economy Development Programme of the Kyrgyz Republic. The European Union is to fund the Programme.
