Kazakhstan and EBRD discuss new investment projects

The implementation of the projects that envisage to reconstruct roads and modernise sewage treatment plants and power facilities was discussed.

On May 19, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held talks with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso. The interlocutors discussed the implementation of major investment projects in Kazakhstan, in particular the reconstruction of roads and the modernisation of sewage treatment plants and power facilities, the press office of the Prime Minister reported to CentralAsia.news.

«To date, we have established close ties on a wide range of economic issues, which we intend to further develop. I firmly believe that Kazakhstan-EBRD cooperation can be brought to a qualitatively new level. The Government of Kazakhstan is standing ready to deepen partnerships with the EBRD in the widest range of issues of mutual interest,» the Prime Minister noted.

The EBRD President stressed that the Bank is fully involved in the activities in Kazakhstan. She also confirmed the readiness of the financial institution to bolster close cooperation with the Republic, noting that the projects aimed at promoting green energy, the private sector and infrastructure remain a priority. The EBRD continues to contribute to developing Kazakhstan’s banking sector.
