On May 12, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Consuelo Vidal Bruce, the press office of the Senate of Uzbekistan reported.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation with the UN and its agencies, boosting joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and interacting on gender equality and environmental safety issues.
The Acting UN Resident Coordinator noted that the United Nations highly evaluates the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan to address global and regional political issues. She also positively evaluated ongoing socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan.
Tanzila Narbayeva stressed that Uzbekistan takes consistent efforts to promote cooperation with the UN agencies, as vividly illustrated by the intensification of political dialogue. The President of Uzbekistan took part in the 72nd, 75th and 76th sessions of the UN General Assembly.
The interlocutors discussed the preparations for the parliamentary debates on the second Voluntary National Review of Uzbekistan. They expressed their readiness to continue interaction on key issues and implement joint projects at achieving sustainable development and promoting human rights.
