Turkmenistan and Ireland to expand cooperation within UN

The topic was raised at a meeting of permanent representatives of countries to the United Nations.
Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Aksoltan Ataeva met with Permanent Representative of Ireland to the UN Fergal Mythen. They discussed issues of interaction between countries within the framework of the relevant international organization. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen mission.

The representatives of the states considered aspects of interstate cooperation within the United Nations at the level of participation in peacekeeping operations, combating climate change, distribution and management of the rational use of water resources.

They drew attention to the fact that Turkmenistan and Ireland, being countries adhering to the principle of neutrality in foreign policy and being members of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, attach particular importance to the expansion of peace and trust in the field of international relations, primarily within the UN.

The Group of Friends of Neutrality was established under the United Nations in 2020. The initiative was put forward by Turkmenistan.
