The «Russian language — the Language of Science and Progress» science and practical conference took place at the Bishkek State University in Kyrgyzstan, MIR 24 reports.
Professor at K. Karasaev Bishkek State University Svetlana Yelebesova noted that the Russian language continues to be the language of science and education and performs an integrating function as it helps in communication of citizens, students and young people throughout the CIS Member States.
Chairman of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Kyrgyzstan Albert Zulkharneev emphasised that education in the Russian language is in demand in the Republic. The Russian side is making a contribution to education reform in Kyrgyzstan.
Following the conference, the participants adopted the decision to set up the Research Centre for Comparative Linguistics and bring together the linguists from BSU and the Kuban University to develop training materials and methodology. They highlighted the need to hold regular conferences on the issues in Russian language teaching in the CIS Member States.
