The regional representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Central Asia Ashita Mittal arrived in Turkmenistan. She visited the checkpoint «Artyk», located on the Turkmen-Iranian state border, and highly appreciated the facility. The UNODC representative noted the high level of infrastructure created at the customs post. Particular attention was paid to the use of modern information technologies at the checkpoint, which make it possible to effectively fight drug trafficking.
Mittal drew attention to the fact that the «Artyk» checkpoint is important for the development of freight traffic between the countries of the Persian Gulf and the Central Asian region. During the visit, she discussed the issue of creating interactive rooms and situation centers at the point.
