Observers of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) will be invited to monitor the upcoming constitutional referendum in Uzbekistan, the press office of the IPA CIS reported to CentralAsia.news.
At the invitation of Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan Zainiddin Nizamkhojaev, the IPA CIS mission was invited to monitor the referendum on the draft Constitutional Law On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The referendum will take place on April 30, 2023.
Observers will observe the conduct of the referendum at polling locations, survey polling places for accessibility and equipment and monitor accuracy of voter registries and ballot processing. The parliaments of the IPA CIS Members will nominate their representatives for the monitoring group that will be dispatched to Uzbekistan.
In October 2021, the IPA CIS observer mission monitored the presidential elections in Uzbekistan.
