President of Turkmenistan signs decree on planting 3 million trees in 2023

It will be done within mass environmental campaigns which are held every year.

Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a government meeting on the development of the socio-economic sphere. The president signed a decree on planting three million tree seedlings in the country in 2023. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan today».

According to the document, seedlings of  deciduous, coniferous, fruit trees and grape seedlings will be planted in the Central Asian state. Residents of the capital will plant 1.5 million seedlings in Ashgabat. The remaining 1.5 million trees will be planted in the regions.

Young fruit trees and grapevines will be distributed on separately allocated land plots according to their varieties. The campaigns will be held by ministries, sectoral departments, administrations of Ashgabat and regions.

The draft of the relevant resolution was submitted to the leader of the country by the deputy head of the Cabinet of Ministers Annageldi Yazmyradov. 

Tree planting campaigns are held in Turkmenistan on an annual basis. In 2020, in honor of the 25th anniversary of neutrality, 25 million tree seedlings were planted in the country. In 2021, the number of trees planted reached 30 million. It was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of independence.
