President of Tajikistan allocates over $393,000 for science competition

Schoolchildren, students and other sections of society will participate in the intellectual competition.

The All-Republic competition «Science — the Beacon of Education» will be held in Tajikistan. 4.085 million somoni, or about $393,200, will be spent on the event. The money will be allocated from President Emomali Rahmon Reserve Fund, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Schoolchildren, university students and other interested sections of society will participate in the intellectual competition. 1.74 million somoni ($167,500) are earmarked for the awards to the winners and the organisation of the competition, which is more than the amount spent last year.

The competition has 132 places of honour. 84 contesters will take the first, second and third places and the Grand Prix in the fourth round. Eleventh grade schoolchildren who will qualify for the fourth round will be eligible to enter universities in Tajikistan free of charge on a non-competed basis in the fields of technical and natural sciences.

The competition aims to stimulate technical thinking, promote the idea of the importance of science, develop inventive and innovative skills and inspire young people to study the exact sciences.
