Alikhan Smailov holds talks with Mikhail Mishustin

The talks focused on new joint projects between Russia and Kazakhstan.

On February 2, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and RF Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin met on the sidelines of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, the press office of the Government of the Russian Federation reported to CentralAsia.news.

Alikhan Smailov emphasised that Kazakhstan is seeking to continue and deepen cooperation with the Russian Federation, noting that now Russia is a key partner of Kazakhstan.

Smailov cited the latest dаta: bilateral trade has grown to $24 billion over the past 11 months, or rose 7 percent compared with the same period in 2022.

«Industrial cooperation is developing dynamically, which has enabled to implement 26 joint projects worth about $1 billion and create over 5,000 new jobs,» Alikhan Smailov said.

RF Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said the Russian Federation views the strengthening of relations with Kazakhstan as an absolute priority. He added that Russia attaches particular importance for speeding up the creation of production chains in industry and other economic sectors.
