Andijan to turn into unemployment-free region

The measures to promote renewable energy and create employment opportunities for local populations were identified during a meeting in New Andijan town.

On February 1, Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited New Andijan town, where multi-storey buildings, schools and kindergartens are currently under construction. He held a meeting on the expanded use of renewable energy and the creation of employment opportunities in the region, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The emphasis was placed on the implementation of the projects of solar and wind farms. In 2023, two 600 MV photovoltaic power stations are to be built in Pap and Ferghana regions. There are resources to build 41 micro-hydropower plants in Andijan, 32 micro-hydropower plants in Namangan and 27 micro-hydropower plants in Fergana.

The participants considered establishing and allocating $200 million to a company that would promote solar energy at social facilities. It will install solar panels and water heaters and sell «green» energy to a budgetary institution.

The important issues under discussion included poverty reduction and employment opportunities for local populations. Today, all the necessary measures are being taken in the regions to achieve these goals. In accordance with the Resolution of the President signed on January 31, Andijan region will receive 1.1 trillion soums in soft loans to support family businesses.

«Andijan that is a land of enterprising and hardworking people can turn into a region free from unemployment,» Mirziyoyev emphasised, addressing the participants.
