Integrated rural development programme launched in Kazakhstan

Improving economic and social conditions in rural areas is a priority of the President’s election programme.

On January 16, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov reviewed the integrated social and economic development plan of the settlements adjacent to Astana at a government meeting, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

Minister of Economy Alibek Kuantyrov presented the plan for review. It envisages building modern schools, kindergartens, highways, communication networks, engineering infrastructure and industrial facilities. In addition, it aims at increasing the incomes of rural populations through expanding entrepreneurial opportunities, supporting farm household well-being and promoting cooperation.

The Prime Minister supported the strategy approved by the Central Budget Commission.

The concept, aimed at the social and economic development of rural areas of the country, was put into practice in accordance with the document adopted by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and the conceptual aspects of his election programme.
