Confiscated assets in corruption cases in Kazakhstan amount to 120 billion tenge

In accordance with the instructions of the President, this money will be spent on building and repairing schools.

On January 12, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance Yerulan Zhamaubayev. The official reported on the social and economic development in 2022, the priorities of further activities and the measures being taken to return illegally acquired money to the state budget, the press office of Akorda reported.

Reporting on the pace of economic growth, the Deputy Prime Minister informed that the revenue side of the Republican budget was exceeded by 309 billion tenge. He reported on the progress of the development of the new Budget and Tax Codes, the National Fund for Children project and the measures being taken to return the assets illegally acquired through corruption schemes to the state budget.

Yerulan Zhamaubayev noted that in accordance with the instructions of the President, this money will be sent to the Education Support Fund. To date, 120 billion tenge have been deposited on the special account. In the short term, these funds will be spent on building and repairing educational facilities.

The Kazakh leader instructed the Minister of Finance to efficiently use budgetary funds, move forward financial dynamics and improve tax and customs administration.
