A meeting on the social and economic development of Khatlon Region took place. Head of Khatlon Region Davlatali Said and Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda attended the meeting, the Khovar State News Agency reports.
In total, 40 state projects, which attracted 750 million somoni (about $74.4 million) in investment, were implemented in the region last year. Residents of Khatlon Region signed 84 agreements and memoranda worth 4.3 billion somoni (over $421 million).
About 24,000 tonnes of agricultural products, including onions, melons, lemons and grapes, were exported from the region. The buyers are the Russian Federation, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, the Republic of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Pakistan.
The Prime Minister instructed local officials to take all necessary measures to eliminate shortcomings in the cities and districts. The emphasis was placed on the importance of monitoring the implementation of state programmes.
