Birbulak year-round ski resort to be built near Bishkek

The areas for developing tourism projects in Issyk-Kul and Talas Regions were discussed at a meeting.

On December 22, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov chaired the second meeting of the National Council for Tourism Development to discuss the ways of making the country attractive for foreign tourists and the areas for developing tourism projects in Issyk-Kul and Talas Regions, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The participants approved the project of the Birbulak mountain tourism cluster in Chui Region.

The project envisages building a mountain tourism cluster in the Oruu-Sai gorge in Chui Region, which will have hotels and chalets, a funicular railway and aerial tramways and other necessary infrastructure facilities of the world-class ski resort. The project will be implemented within public-private partnerships.

The year-round resort is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of foreign ski lovers to the Republic.

Another ambitious tourism project to be implemented in 2023 is an international Olympic training centre in Jeti-Oguz Region, on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.
