Trade between Tajikistan and China has reached $1.95 billion

This statemen was made during a meeting of the Minister of Economy of Tajikistan with the Vice Governor of the XUAR.

Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavki Zavkizoda met with Vice Governor of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China Sun Hongmei in Dushanbe. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for strengthening partnerships, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.

In January-November, trade between Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China increased by 42,3% reaching $1.95 billion, compared to the same period in 2021, Zavkizoda said, emphasising that China is the second largest trading partner of Tajikistan.

The talks focused on the ways of attracting investments to the Republic of Tajikistan from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and financing the Dushanbe-Kulma highway project. The interlocutors paid particular attention to the launch of industrial joint ventures and the promotion of cooperation on green economy and energy.

The delegations visited the Dangara free economic zone, where it is planned to put Tajikistan-Chins business entities into operation.
