Uzbekistan continues preparations for WTO accession

The ways of stepping up negotiations on Uzbekistan’s entry into the World Trade Organization were discussed in Tashkent.

On December 14, the Negotiating Group for Work with the World Trade Organization held a regular meeting in the capital of Uzbekistan. Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov, the members of the Interdepartmental Commission for Work with the World Trade Organization and the heads of the ad-hoc working groups participated in the meeting, the press office of the Ministry reported.

The participants considered stepping up negotiations with the WTO Member States and reviewed the progress of the fulfilment of the instructions of the Interdepartmental Commission for Work with the World Trade Organization.

They outlined the plans on the regular rounds of negotiations with the WTO Member States on access to goods and services markets and upcoming consultations with the WTO Secretariat.

The participants adopted the decision on weekly working meetings on the main aspects of Uzbekistan’s entry into the World Trade Organization. These meetings are aimed at developing proposals for making rapid progress in the WTO accession process.
