On November 9, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the development of a mechanism on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The review showed that 53% of deaths among adults aged 30 to 70 years are related to cardiovascular diseases, the incidence of which has increased by 20% - even among young people, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

In this regard, it was decided that a new system of prevention, early detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases would be set up. From 2022, citizens aged over 40 will undergo screening at least once a year at family clinics and medical teams, and district laboratories will be supplied with coagulometers and reagents. It is planned to introduce a unified electronic register of patients with cardiovascular diseases and distribute medicines free of charge among those in need.

With the view to fulfiling these tasks, 350 million soums will be allocated to each district, 70 billion soums in total. It is planned to allocate 580 billion soums, which is 3 times more than last year, for the provision of primary health care units with medicines and medical supplies.

The regional branches of the Republican Cardiology Research Centre will provide 35 types of services instead of 15.
