US has provided medical equipment worth US$ 1.2 million to Kyrgyzstan

This was announced at the roundtable meeting on the interim results of the USAID-funded project.

On October 29, the roundtable meeting on the interim results of the project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to strengthen the health sector in Kyrgyzstan took place in Bishkek. The event was organised with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic, the press office of the Ministry of Health reports.

Modern medical and diagnostic equipment worth US$ 1.2 million has been supplied to Kyrgyzstan under the USAID-funded Local Health System Sustainability Project in the period from last April to the present day. This equipment has been distributed among local hospitals and laboratories.

The project also provides for a series of measures to improve the knowledge and skills of health workers in diagnosis and treatment of coronavirus infection. Particular attention is paid to developing information systems to build up surveillance capacity.

As of October 29, 180,741 coronavirus cases have been registered in the Central Asian republic.
