Berdimuhamedov proposes to use new forms of COVID-19 treatment in the CIS

The President of Turkmenistan raised the topic at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth.

On October 15, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS. He called on the Commonwealth member states to unite in order to broaden the study of the nature of the coronavirus. It was reported by «Turkmenistan Today».

According to him, the states need to strengthen cooperation in scientific diplomacy and within the medical communities. Continuing the topic, he recalled the initiatives of Ashgabat, put forward at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

Now it is time to study more deeply the forms of spread of coronavirus disease, as well as to develop and implement new methods of treatment and prevention of the COVID-19, noted the leader of the country.

He called on the Commonwealth member states to support the above initiatives and become part of them within the framework of the United Nations.

On October 8, Berdimuhamedov met with the Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe Hans Kluge. During the conversation, the President drew attention to the fact that not a single case of coronavirus infection has been registered in the Central Asian country, but there are patients with symptoms similar to the COVID-19. The President also noted that about 70% of citizens of the state are vaccinated.

After an official meeting with the Turkmen leader, in an interview to a local newspaper, Kluge said that soon the WHO technical mission will study the genome of the coronavirus in Turkmenistan.
